Namtso Lake

Namtso means “Heavenly Lake.” This sacred highland lake lies between Damxung and Baingoin, with deep blue water framed by the snow-covered Nyenchen Tanglha mountains. The Tashi Peninsula, with its prayer flags, mani stones and monastery, is a familiar place to take in the lake and surrounding peaks. The lake has a longstanding place in Tibetan pilgrimage traditions.
